Once you’re finished reading this article, check out my article on the best android boxes for gaming to see some of my other top choice! While the NVIDIA Shield is one of the best platforms to run emulators on, it’s far from the only one. However, there are a few, like RetroArch that will emulate several different consoles. Most game system emulators just focus on one game system. This allows you to play classic games without having to dig it out of your closet, or find a used one on eBay.įor example, if you know someone that owns a Mac computer, but runs Windows on it, they’re actually using an emulator to do it. If you’re new to emulators, here’s a high-level overview.Īn emulator is software that funs on a modern system (PC, or in this case, the NVIDIA Shield) that imitates a classic console. That’s where emulators come in, and there’s few better systems for emulators than the NVIDIA Shield TV. If you’re like me, you’ve probably long-since sold your older game consoles, but still want to find a way to play those classic games. Whether it’s Mario, Sonic or Lara Croft, there’s just something about those games that brings back the kid in me. I may be showing my age here, but, to me, there’s nothing quite like a classic video game. When dealing with RDP, and restricting it to specific monitors instead of all monitors, everything I have read indicates you get the monitor numbers by using the MSTSC / command.however I see situations where these numbers change because of changing doc. using RDP on multiple monitors: what are the monitor IDs listed in MSTSC /l Windows.I would hate for you to show up late for work This weekend (for those of you that observe Daylight Saving’s Time). It hurts to sit, walk, stand and pretty much exist. I am talking about sciatica, a debilitating injury which begins in the lower back and soon takes over your leg muscles and nerves causing a hell of a lot of pain. But around that corner for me was and still is an injury that has kept me from doing anything physically demanding for over two months. Getting outside for a long brisk walk or a park sprint session really makes you feel a million dollars. Nothing beats real exercise as opposed to ‘simulated’ gym stuff. As much as gyms are good for exercise I still believe they are designed in a way to minimalize progress. Eventually this turned into a vicious cycle of persistent exercise only to be chopped down by shin splints, a bad back or even worse, my bad knees. For as long as I can remember I have always had some kind of injury or ailment to hold back my fitness. If your issue isn't listed, please leave us feedback at the bottom of this article and describe the problem you're having. Select one of the issues below to expand it. For example, depending on your version of Windows, select Start and then scroll to find Visio from your list of apps. Your install is finished when you see the phrase, "You're all set! Visio is installed now" and an animation plays to show you where to find the Visio app on your computer.įollow the instructions in the window to find Visio. If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes. Step 3: Install Visioĭepending on your browser, select Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox). Follow the prompts in Step 3: Install Visio to complete the installation. While Microsoft does offer a free Visio Viewer application, allowing users to view and comment on Visio files, there’s no free plan to speak of. If you're the OfficeĪdmin, learn about assigning licenses to users. In addition, there is no version of Visio for Mac OS X, so Mac users are locked out of the platform unless they’re working from the web. Check your assigned licenses and if you don't see Visio Plan 2 listed under your assigned subscriptions, contact your admin for help. If Visio isn't listed as an install option under My Installs, it could mean you don't have a license. Most Macintosh disks have three Partitions and one is the boot Volume. How does all that appear to me as a Mac user? Partitions that aren’t formatted may not be visible to the OS. When macOS recognizes the file system, it can mount it (make it visible in the Finder). For example, HFS+, APFS, NTFS (Windows), or EXT4 (Linux). A disk can have one or more Partitions, each with a fixed size (prior to High Sierra.) A Partition must be formatted and mounted before macOS can see it and read/write data.Ī Volume is a Partition that has been formatted with a specific file system. And if you do practice, back up all your data and then experiment on a non-mission critical Mac to make sure you understand the fundamentals.Ī Partiton is a logically grouped, named portion of a disk that can hold data. It’s not intended as a step-by-step guide for direct experimentation. The FAQ starts with the classic (pre-APFS) usage, then explains the changes with APFS as it goes along.įinally, this FAQ is intended to clarify basic notions. The discussion is restricted to simple disks such as found in your Mac or typical external drives. Note, for simplicity here, a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and A solid State Drive (SSD) will be referred to as a disk. In the early days of email usage, I preferred using web-based mail, but as time went on, I preferred app-based email. One of the things about my use of email that is most surprising is that I’ve gone in the reverse direction compared to how technology has moved. It’s a native macOS app for Gmail, and it supports G-Suite as well. If you have a few Gmail accounts, and you are happy with the Gmail interface, check out Boxy. I stuck with it during the disaster that was MobileMe and finally arrived at iCloud.īefore I look at the various email apps for Mac, I want to mention one other app. I switched to Gmail in 2004 when it first launched, and I finally switched to Mac in 2005 when I got my first Mac (a Powerbook G4). I switched to Mailblocks around 2002 (it was eventually acquired by AOL). I stuck with AOL until I got an account when my parents first got high-speed Internet. I got my first email account in the mid–90s (When it was still $2.95 per hour for AOL). So what’s the best email app for the Mac? Even with the popularity of web-based services like Gmail, many still prefer a desktop app to pull in multiple email addresses, use desktop plugins, and have a more native Mac experience. Signing up for almost any service on the Internet requires an email address, so it’s a universal digital identifier. Signing into iCloud (and email) is one of my first tasks when setting up a new Mac. Despite all the new messaging services, project management tools, and chat-based ecosystems, email remains essential. However, the old passwords file is not deleted so if your passwords haven't changed you don't need to re-enter them again.
With USB C you had to open the machine to check, now you can see from across the room. I tried a 3rd party USB C- magnetic charging adapter for my 2016 MBP but it was horribly unreliable.Īside from being easier to use, having the LED on the cable to show charging status was incredibly handy. It just worked and it was a boneheaded move to remove it. is right - Magsafe was one of those brilliant Apple innovations that was beautifully simple and functional. (I assume you can use a USB C-USB C cable with the same power adapter) I actually don’t like the ease with which USB C plugs pull out I find them less secure than the old USB A plugs and have accidentally disconnected USB C cables on occasion. You can still charge via the TB4 ports, it’s just limited to 100W. Plus, the USB-C plug actually pulled out more easily in my experience than the reworked barrel-style MagSafe 1 connector. The benefit of being able to charge from either side was well worth it for me at the time. No one thinking clearly would have ever killed it. I'd love to know who was responsible for the removal of MagSafe. When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up an amber light. Its held in place magnetically, so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your notebook stays put safely. I typically keep my MBPs for seven years, so only three more to go on my 2017 before I get to have MagSafe again! Wheeee!
